I do not agree to this. Especially because in some organizations, your boss will automatically assume you are fine with your pay as far as the job he is asking you to get done is being done.
Capitalism is very tricky. They will always want to cut cost and even if they think you might not be easily replaced and it’s more expensive to hire someone. They will rather keep mute until you get uncomfortable enough to ask.

I have observed over time that it’s the ones that don’t know the actual work that make noise about it more and sell themselves more and guess what? They get the gigs.
