To all the individuals fortunate enough to have a younger sister with the uncanny ability to wear the same size of everything you own deserves hugs and money. The one who fearlessly invades your personal space with a smile that’s both mischievous and heartwarming.

Ah, yes, the sister who “borrows” your clothes, wigs, bags, and shoes without a second thought and conveniently forgets to return them just when you desperately need them. The sisters that will always beg for your food (Bombastic side eye).

And let’s not forget the one who’s not afraid to present you with a bill for her services rendered — even if it was just as minute as picking up something from the delivery guy. (Yes, I am petty)

The ones you really have to love, and you really want to strangle their neck out of the same love too. The one that can make you break a stranger’s head if the stranger laid hands on them.

The people that have these types of sisters as siblings should have a day dedicated to them. A day to celebrate the unique bond that’s woven through a tapestry of quarrels and hugs, laughter and shared secrets.

A Letter to the Strongest Human I Know

Hey there warrior, I hope this letter finds you well, if so dioxology.

Today marks your 28th journey around the sun. And as I look back on the incredible soul you’ve become, my heart swells with pride. Every step you’ve taken, every obstacle you’ve overcome, has shaped you into the exceptional person you are today.

Through your life, you’ve shown me that age is just a number, and strength is a choice. Despite the battles you’ve faced, your determination to rise above every setback, to strive for financial independence, and to build a life that reflects your unwavering courage — it’s all nothing short of remarkable.

You’ve weathered storms that many can’t even fathom, and you’ve emerged not just as a survivor, but as a warrior who thrives. You’ve proven that a diagnosis does not define you; your actions and resilience do. I am proud of you my dear Kofo!

To Every Sickle Cell Warrior

This part of the page is dedicated to each and every warrior out there who faces each day with a heart full of hope and a spirit that refuses to bow to adversity. Those who never asked for the bodies they were given, yet rise up to conquer the challenges fate has dealt them. I extend my heartfelt salute. You are not alone on this journey. As you navigate life’s turbulent waters, may you always find solace in the knowledge that you are cherished and valued. Your resilience is an inspiration.

So here’s to the warriors who fight their battles in silent bravery, to the siblings who remind us of both love’s chaos and beauty, and to the sister who embodies strength in every sense of the word.

It is okay to cry or feel down on some days. That you have faith in God, won’t and shouldn’t stop you from crying. It doesn’t stop bad things or moments from coming or hurting but then that’s where your faith helps you heal and bounce back. Keep fighting as you always have and keep up the faith.

Kofoworola — a Yoruba name of Nigerian origin that translates to “one who did not use money to acquire wealth” or “one who acquired wealth through prayer” in English.

I might not say it always but this read is one of the many ways to remind you that I love you and to wish you many more graceful, mind strengthening, peaceful years to come.

Happy birthday to the radio without battery (gossip body) in my family. xoxo
